Reliance BIG TV to be acquired by Pantel & Veecon Media and Television
Nov 27, 2017 – Reliance Communications (RCOM) has entered into a binding Share Purchase Agreement with Pantel Technologies and Veecon Media & Television for the sale of its subsidiary Reliance BIG TV Limited (RBTV), engaged in the business of DTH TV services across India.

Sun Direct adds more HD channels with Harmonic HEVC
Nov 15, 2017 – Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT) has announced that Sun Direct has deployed a Harmonic HEVC media processing solution within its all-IP workflow in order to expand its HD service offering. Harmonic's encoder and multiplexer enable Sun Direct to deliver an additional 80 HD channels.

Airtel Digital TV adds 207,000 subscribers in 3Q 2017
Oct 31, 2017 – Bharti Airtel has announced results for its second quarter ended September 30, 2017. DTH had 13.5 million customers at the end of the period, up 9.0% year-on-year. Net customer additions for the quarter were 207,000.

2.8 million SVOD subscribers in SAARC countries in Q2 2017
Oct 13, 2017 – According to Dataxis, in the second quarter of 2017, SVOD subscribers in SAARC countries reached 2.8 million at a quarter on quarter rate of 89%, compared to 1.5 million in the second quarter of 2016. India is by far the biggest SVOD market.

BARC India to measure TV viewing using DEN Networks return path data

India adds 1.7 million active DTH subscribers in 2Q 2017
Sep 28, 2017 – According to figures submitted to TRAI, active satellite pay TV subscriptions in India reached 65.31 million at the end of June 2017, up 1.7 million versus the end of 1Q 2017. In India there are 6 pay DTH service providers.
