Sky Cable to launch DTH TV in the Philippines on SES satellites
May 24, 2016 – SES (Paris; Luxembourg: SESG) has announced an agreement with Sky Cable, the largest cable television provider in the Philippines. Sky Cable will be broadcasting DTH satellite TV channels via SES satellites SES-9 and NSS-11.

SES and K-NET partner to provide DTH and DTT to West Africa
May 24, 2016 – SES (Paris; Luxembourg: SESG) has announced that it has created a joint venture with K-NET of Ghana. The partnership aims to strengthen the DTH platform and also provide DTT services via SES’s orbital position at 28.2°E.

Dish TV India adds 508,000 subscribers in 1Q 2016
May 23, 2016 – Dish TV India (BSE: 532839, NSE: DISHTV) has reported fourth quarter fiscal 2016 results. The company added 508 thousand net subscribers during the quarter to close with a net subscriber base of 14.5 million.

Pay TV subscriptions in Brazil down 162,000 in 1Q 2016
May 20, 2016 – According to Brazil’s Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (Anatel), the country’s pay TV subscriber base ended March 2016 at 18.95 million, with 162 thousand subscribers being lost in the quarter to leave the total 813 thousand down on one year before.

RCN launches Hulu as a channel
May 19, 2016 – RCN has announced a partnership with Hulu to enable its customers to watch Hulu programming as a channel through the same set-top box used to watch Live TV. Previously, RCN was the first cable provider to integrate Netflix into the channel lineup.

India registers 3.33 million more DTH subscribers in 4Q 2015
May 18, 2016 – The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released performance indicators for the quarter ending December, 2015. The total number of registered and active subscribers being served by India's DTH operators was 84.80 million and 55.98 million respectively as on 31st December, 2015.

HISPASAT and MEO to broadcast Champions League Final and UEFA Euro in 4K
May 18, 2016 – HISPASAT and Portugal Telecom’s MEO have reached an agreement to broadcast in 4K format the Champions League Final on the Sport TV channel as well as eight of the most important matches of the UEFA Euro 2016 on the RTP 4K channel.

Major U.S. pay TV providers add 10,000 subscribers in 1Q 2016
May 17, 2016 – Leichtman Research (LRG) has found that the thirteen largest pay-TV providers in the US -- representing about 95% of the market -- added about 10,000 net video subscribers in 1Q 2016, compared to a gain of about 170,000 subscribers in 1Q 2015.
