DTT broadcasting begins in Colombia
Jan 29, 2010 – After a period of more than two years of analysis and studies Colombia adopted the European DVB-T standard for digital terrestrial television. On Friday, January 29th, 2010 the first commercial broadcasts began in Bogotá.

Colombia issues tender for DTH coverage of remote areas
Jan 6, 2010 – Colombia's CNTV is requesting quotations from parties interested in participating in its 'TV Satelital Directa al Hogar' project. The project is intended to provide coverage to the 8 per cent of the country that still has no television signal.

Nov 5, 2009 – The DIRECTV Group (NASDAQ:DTV) has reported third quarter 2009 results. DIRECTV U.S. net subscriber additions were 136,000 to give 18.44 million, and DIRECTV Latin America net subscriber additions were 162,000 to give 4.33 million, at quarter end.

Coship doing well in South America

Telefónica España resumed IPTV subscriber growth in 2Q09
Jul 30, 2009 – Telefónica (Madrid and NYSE: TEF) has released its second quarter 2009 results. Pay TV accesses worldwide reached 2.4 million at the end of June, almost 19.4% more than a year ago. Performance improved in Spain with net adds of 4,715 in the quarter.
