Montenegro adds 24,120 pay TV subscribers in 2016
Jan 25, 2017 – The Agency for Electronic Media in Montenegro has released pay TV subscriber figures up to the end of December 2016. The number of connections at year-end was 189,392, up 24,120 or 14.6% versus the end of 2015.

NEC to provide ISDB-T DTT equipment for public broadcasting in the Philippines

Rohde & Schwarz transmitters used by first ATSC 3.0 broadcaster
Jan 20, 2017 – In December 2016, SBS, a broadcasting company in South Korea, aired the first broadcast in the ATSC 3.0 UHD standard. The sporting event was terrestrially broadcast on Kwanak Mountain using a Rohde & Schwarz transmitter system.

15% of U.S. broadband households have antenna-only TV service
Jan 18, 2017 – Research from Parks Associates shows that the percentage of U.S. broadband households that use only antennas to receive TV has steadily increased since 2013 to reach 15%. This increase coincides with a drop in pay-TV subscriptions and an increase in Internet-only video subscriptions.

ENENSYS selected by SBS in Korea for ATSC 3.0 rollout

Sub-Saharan Africa pay TV thrives despite falling prices
Jan 16, 2017 – Digital TV Research estimates that three groups will continue to account for 90% of Sub-Saharan Africa’s pay TV subscribers. At end-2016, Multichoice had 11.61 million subscribers, well ahead of StarTimes with 4.18 million and Vivendi with 2.32 million.

Digita granted 10 year DTT licence for Finland
Jan 16, 2017 – The Finnish Government has granted television programming licences, for the UHF band multiplexes A-F, for Digita's terrestrial TV network for the forthcoming ten-year period. The licence term will begin on 17 May and end on 10 January 2027.

LG introduces first 4K UHD TVs for ATSC 3.0 in Korea
