KT and SK Broadband launch UHD with Elemental
May 25, 2016 – Elemental has announced that KT and SK Broadband have both launched UHD services using Elemental HEVC software. Asia represents one of the world’s fastest growing UHD markets, with Korea reported as the largest UHD TV market in the region.

Pay TV subscriptions in Brazil down 162,000 in 1Q 2016
May 20, 2016 – According to Brazil’s Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (Anatel), the country’s pay TV subscriber base ended March 2016 at 18.95 million, with 162 thousand subscribers being lost in the quarter to leave the total 813 thousand down on one year before.

Major U.S. pay TV providers add 10,000 subscribers in 1Q 2016
May 17, 2016 – Leichtman Research (LRG) has found that the thirteen largest pay-TV providers in the US -- representing about 95% of the market -- added about 10,000 net video subscribers in 1Q 2016, compared to a gain of about 170,000 subscribers in 1Q 2015.

May 12, 2016 – Global digital penetration climbed from 40.4% of TV households at end-2010 to 74.6% by end-2015, according to Digital TV Research. About 584 million digital TV homes were added in 138 countries between 2010 and 2015.

Deutsche Telekom adds 70,000 TV customers in 1Q 2016
