GVT and EchoStar plan pay TV joint venture in Brazil
Oct 1, 2013 – Vivendi and EchoStar (NASDAQ: SATS) have announced that EchoStar Technologies and Vivendi subsidiary GVT have entered into negotiations to form a joint venture for pay TV services in Brazil.

Honduras adopts ISDB-T for DTT
Sep 27, 2013 – The government of Honduras has announced the adoption of ISDB-T as its standard for digital terrestrial television. In 2007, Honduras opted for the ATSC system, but has now changed its policy to favour the Japanese-Brazilian standard.

Pay TV subscribers up 10.6% year-on-year in Chile in Q2
Sep 13, 2013 – Chile’s Subtel has released pay TV statistics to the end of June 2013. Versus the end of June 2012, satellite subscribers increased from 952,767 to 1,100,709 (up 15.5%) whereas wired (cable TV and IPTV) subscribers grew from 1,168,831 to 1,246,254 (up 6.6%).

Costa Rica's Racsa picks Comigo's Android set-top-box and middleware

Brazil's pay TV subscriber growth drops off in 2Q 2013
Aug 8, 2013 – According to Brazil's Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (Anatel), the country's pay TV subscriber base ended June 2013 at 16.96 million, with more than 2.4 million new subscribers being added over the preceding 12 months - an annual growth rate of 16.7%.

741,000 pay TV subscribers in Ecuador at end-June 2013
Aug 6, 2013 – Ecuador's Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones (SUPERTEL) has released pay TV statistics for the country at the end of June 2013. There were 741 thousand subscribers in the Republic at that date, up from 455 thousand at the same time in 2012.
