DIRECTV U.S. up 136,000 subscribers and DTVLA up 162,000 in 3Q09
Nov 5, 2009 – The DIRECTV Group (NASDAQ:DTV) has reported third quarter 2009 results. DIRECTV U.S. net subscriber additions were 136,000 to give 18.44 million, and DIRECTV Latin America net subscriber additions were 162,000 to give 4.33 million, at quarter end.

Coship doing well in South America
Nov 3, 2009 – The Brazilian DTH service Via Embratel (Mexico:TELINTL; NYSE:TII) is expected to have installed about 600,000 satellite set-top boxes from Coship (Shenzhen:002052) by the end of December 2009.

Telpin to offer IPTV in Argentina in 2010
Nov 2, 2009 – La Cooperativa de Teléfonos de Pinamar (Telpin) will start offering IPTV services next year in three Argentine cities. Trials have been carried out using UTStarcom equipment, though a purchase decision has not yet been taken.

ISDB broadcasting in Argentina to begin in 2 months
Oct 20, 2009 – Argentina will begin the first tests of its ISDB-based Sistema de TV Digital Terrestre digital TV service in the next two months, with the goal of covering about 400 cities and towns by 2011.

Visiontel Latin American DTH begins trials
