Sep 6, 2016 – The Ultra HD Forum has made the latest version of its industry Guidelines public prior to IBC. The Ultra HD Forum Guidelines Working Group is currently working on future versions of the document.

European S-VOD subscribers to reach 50 million by 2020
Jun 29, 2016 – New research from the EBU’s Media Intelligence Service shows that subscription video-on-demand (SVoD) subscribers in Europe grew 56% in just one year between 2014 and 2015, and are expected to reach 50 million homes by 2020.

EMEA UHF spectrum to remain with DTT until at least 2023
Nov 26, 2015 – At the ITU’s World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-15) representatives of over 150 governments took the decision that UHF spectrum will remain exclusively allocated to terrestrial TV services in ITU Region 1 well into the next decade.

RTVE and partners to show 4K HDR over DVB-T2 in Seville

ITU Region-1 DTT switchover deadline passes

ITU symposium to mark switchover from analogue to digital TV

iTEAM carry out UHD-1 Phase-2 trials over DVB-T2 in Spain
May 28, 2015 – Researchers at the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) of the Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain, have carried out the first transmission trials using DVB-T2 with the Ultra HD format known as 'UHD-1 Phase-2'.

70% of Ultra HD TVs to feature HDR or other enhancements by 2020
May 15, 2015 – ​ABI Research expects that by 2020 nearly 70% of UHD TVs will support new technologies and enhancements like HDR, wider color gamut, high frame rates, and immersive audio. This could prove too conservative if a lower tier of UHD TVs does not persist as currently anticipated.

EBU says LTE not a viable alternative to DTT distribution
Jul 31, 2014 – The EBU has released a report that examines the possibility of delivering broadcast content and services over LTE networks. The report concludes that LTE could be a useful complement to broadcast distribution platforms.
