70% of TV households in the EU-5 access digital TV on their main TV set
Sep 30, 2009 – e-Media Institute has published the 2nd quarterly release of its EU-5 TV Market Maps. At the end of June 2009 digital TV penetration in the five largest European TV markets finally reached the landmark figure of 70% of total TV households.

Digital Terrestrial TV STB Shipments Plummet in Q2
Sep 30, 2009 – In-Stat has reported that worldwide DTT Set Top Box (STB) shipments fell by nearly 35% in Q2 compared to Q1. The shift was driven primarily by falling shipments in the North American market following the analog broadcast TV shut-off.

SNL Kagan Expects HDTV Sales to Rebound in Late 2009 and Continue Strong into 2010
Sep 29, 2009 – According to SNL Kagan, the market for HDTVs is expected to pick-up in the second half of 2009 and maintain momentum into 2010. SNL Kagan projects 2009 HDTV sales will reach 29.0 million units, up from an estimated 26.2 million in 2008.
