Pay TV subscriptions in Costa Rica grew 9% in 2015
May 31, 2016 – Costa Rica’s Superintendency of Telecommunications (SUTEL) has released a report on the country’s telecommunications market for the period 2011 to 2015. Costa Rica ended 2015 with 797,230 pay TV subscribers, up 64,684 (9%) versus the end of 2014.

Telefonica adds 94,000 pay TV subscribers in 1Q 2016
Apr 29, 2016 – Telefónica (NYSE:TEF) (LSE:TDE) has announced results for the first quarter of 2016. Video revenues totaled 665.4 million euros, up 17.3% vs. the first quarter of 2015. Pay TV accesses totalled 8.4 million at March (4.5 million satellite TV).

Pay TV households in Central America grew faster than the rest of Latin America in 2015
Mar 17, 2016 – The region covered by Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and the Dominican Republic reached 3.7 million pay TV subscribers at the end of 2015, according to Dataxis. Total subscribers at the end of Q4 2015 represented a growth of 13.5% compared with the same period of 2014.

Hondutel plans to launch pay TV in Honduras
Nov 4, 2015 – In an interview with Radio HRN, Empresa Hondureña de Telecomunicaciones (Hondutel), the state-owned telecommunications provider in Honduras, has said that it is planning to launch a pay TV service over its network.

Millicom releases Q3 2015 results
Oct 22, 2015 – Millicom has released its Q3 2015 results. Cable and Digital Media revenue grew strongly at 25.2%. Total Cable and Digital Media revenue generating units increased by 83,000 from Q2 2015 to 5.25 million.

Nicaragua adopts ISDB-T for DTT broadcasting

Central American pay-TV subscribers to hit 5.57 million by 2018
Jul 29, 2015 – The number of pay-TV subscribers in Central America and the Dominican Republic will grow from 3.58 million in 2014 to 5.57 million in 2018, according to findings in a report published by Dataxis.

Jun 30, 2015 – Costa Rica’s Superintendency of Telecommunications (SUTEL) has released a report on the country’s telecommunications market for the period 2010 to 2014. Costa Rica ended 2014 with 732,546 pay TV subscribers, up 91,504 (14%) versus the end of 2013.
