Satellite TV subscribers pass the 1 million mark in Chile
Aug 1, 2013 – Chile's Subtel has released pay TV statistics for the country to the end of March 2013. From the end of March 2012, satellite subscribers increased from 943,844 to 1,039,535 (up 10.1%) whereas wired (cable TV and IPTV) subscribers only grew from 1,162,383 to 1,205,918 (up 3.7%).

DIRECTV U.S. subscribers down 84,000 in 2Q 2013
Aug 1, 2013 – DIRECTV (NASDAQ:DTV) has announced second quarter 2013 results. DIRECTV U.S. net subscribers declined by 84,000 in the quarter principally due to lower gross subscriber additions. DTVLA net additions in the quarter were 165,000.

Brazil to move final analogue switchover to 2018
Jun 11, 2013 – Brazil has announced that it has updated its plan for analogue television shut down. The schedule will now begin in March 2015 and end in 2018. The original plan was that the shutdown of the analogue service and the migration to fully digital would occur in 2016.
