300,000 homes receiving Cantv's satellite TV service in Venezuela
May 7, 2013 – State-owned Cantv has announced that 300,000 Venezuelan homes are now receiving its Cantv Televisión Satelital direct-to-home (DTH) satellite TV service. The service consists of 48 channels of video and 20 of audio, and is broadcast on the country's Simón Bolívar satellite.

DIRECTV surpasses 16 million subscriber mark in Latin America
May 7, 2013 – DIRECTV (NASDAQ:DTV) has announced results for the first quarter of 2013. DIRECTV U.S. subscribers were stable at around 20 million. DTVLA added 583,000 to end with 10.91 million subscribers and Sky Mexico had 5.41 million subscribers as of March 31, 2013.

India adds over 10 million satellite TV subscribers in 2012
May 6, 2013 – The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released telecom performance indicators for the Quarter ending December 2012. At the end of the year the reported registered subscriber base for satellite TV providers was 54.52 million, up from 44.21 at the end of 2011.

Pay TV household penetration reaches 50% in Venezuela
May 3, 2013 – According to preliminary statistics published by its Comisión Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CONATEL), pay TV subscriptions in Venezuela at the end of March 2013 were 3.61 million, up from 2.89 million at the end of the first quarter of 2012. Household penetration reached 49.97%.

airtel Digital TV subscribers pass the 8 million mark
May 2, 2013 – Bharti Airtel has released results for the year ended March 31, 2013. Airtel digital TV had 8.1 million customers on its Direct-To-Home (DTH) platform at the end of the quarter, an increase of 872,000 versus the same point in 2012.

Chunghwa Telecom MOD/IPTV subscribers stable at 1.2 million in 1Q 2013
May 2, 2013 – Chunghwa Telecom (TAIEX: 2412, NYSE: CHT) has reported results for the first quarter of 2013. Using video streaming technology over its FTTx and ADSL networks, Chunghwa customers can access TV programs, video-on-demand and other services. Chunghwa served approximately 1.2 million customers as of March 31, 2013.

BSkyB results for the nine months ended 31 March 2013
May 2, 2013 – BSkyB (LSE:BSY) has released results for the nine months ended 31 March 2013. Sky added 108,000 HD customers, 9,000 multiroom and 44,000 paying customers to its new mobile TV service Sky Go Extra durung the quarter.

Freesat now in 1.7 million UK homes
May 1, 2013 – Freesat, the UK's free-to-air digital satellite television provider has announced 2012/13 results. Having added c.150,000 homes in the last 12 months, Freesat remains the UK's fastest growing established TV platform, and continues to outgrow Pay-TV rivals.

North America to continue to add pay TV subs
May 1, 2013 – Despite all of the talk about cord-cutting, a new report from Digital TV Research states that the number of pay TV subscribers in North America will continue to increase - albeit at a slow rate. However, the report states that pay TV penetration will remain flat.
