1.3 billion digital TV households by 2017
Jul 3, 2012 – Based on forecasts for 80 countries, the number of digital TV homes will double between 2011 and 2017 to 1,323 million, according to a Digital TV Research. Global digital penetration will climb from 48.6% at end-2011 to 86.7% by 2017.

Global digital TV penetration crosses halfway mark

DDB Smart TV technology platform launched in India
Jun 21, 2012 – The DDB Foundation has launched its Digital Direct Broadcast technology platform in India. DDB-enabled televisions are able to receive digital signals without the need of a set-top box, work on files in the cloud, browse websites and convert 2D channels into 3D.

Modification in India's Switchover Date to Digital Cable TV
Jun 20, 2012 – The installation of digital cable set-top boxes in India's four metros of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai will not meet the mandated deadline of June 30th, 2012. The governement has therefore set a new deadline of October 31st, 2012.

Huawei Leads 19 Million Indian Set-Top Box Market with 24% Share
May 21, 2012 – According to ABI Research, nearly 70% of set-top boxes installed in Indian households are imported from foreign manufacturers. In 2011, Huawei was the top STB vendor in India with 24% market share, followed by Pace with 12%.
