Newport Media Unveils World's First 65nm System-on-Chip (SoC) for Japan/Brazilian ISDB-T Mobile TV

From 26.3 Million Mobile TV Users in 2007 to 51.6 Million at the End of 2008
Sep 4, 2008 – On the basis of monthly adoption data for all commercial broadcast Mobile TV networks, Issue No 5 of the quarterly TeleAnalytics Mobile TV Tracking Service calculates that the end 2008 Mobile TV user count will be 51.6 million.

Japan July 2008 domestic terrestrial digital TV broadcasting equipment shipments
Aug 28, 2008 – According to Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA), shipments of digital terrestrial TV receiving equipment in July were 1.252 million units, giving a cumulative total of nearly 8 million units so far this year.

Mitsubishi to Launch New Wireless HDTV With Embedded AMIMON Wireless Chips

Japan - Over 70% of new mobile phones One-Seg enabled
Aug 20, 2008 – 3.738 million phones capable of One-Seg mobile TV reception were shipped in Japan in June, representing 73.5 percent of phones shipped - the first time that One-Seg penetration has exceeded 70 percent.
