HANA Employs New 1394 Over Coax International Standard for HD Home Networking
Aug 19, 2008 – The High-Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance (HANA) has announced its plans to release a HANA Entertainment Box reference design based on the new 1394 Over Coax international standard from the 1394 Trade Association.

Ofcom releases UK Communications Market annual report
Aug 14, 2008 – According to Ofcom's latest annual report into the UK's £51 billion communications industry, at the end of 2007 nearly 6 million households (23%) had a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) up by 53% in a year.

Bell Aliant Reports Second Quarter Results
Aug 5, 2008 – Bell Aliant (TSX: BA.UN) has reported distributions to its unit holders of $92.1 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2008. For Aliant TV, the IPTV service, subscribers increased by almost 25 per cent in the quarter to just over 17,000 customers.

Iliad (Free) 1H 2008 Revenues
Aug 4, 2008 – Iliad (Paris: ILD) subsidiary Free recruited 230,000 new ADSL subscribers (net of terminations) in 1st half 2008. The ADSL subscriber base thus increased from 2,904,000 at 31 December 2007 to 3,134,000 at 30 June 2008.

Verizon Reports Double-Digit Earnings Growth
Jul 28, 2008 – Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) has reported continued strong results in the second quarter 2008. Verizon added 176,000 net new FiOS TV customers, for a total of nearly 1.4 million FiOS TV customers as of the end of the quarter.

TRAI sets a time frame of five years for Cable TV to go digital
