Juniper Research Expects Spectrum Scarcity to Block Mobile TV Launch in UK Until at Least 2010

IPTV Deployments More Than Double In a Year as Broadband Continues to Achieve Strong Growth
Oct 8, 2007 – The DSL Forum today announced new broadband and IPTV statistics at the Broadband World Forum Europe in Berlin. The statistics, prepared for the DSL Forum by industry analyst Point Topic, show that the number of people using IPTV services increased by 179 per cent in the 12 months to 30 June 2007.

Italy delays switch-off to 2012
Oct 1, 2007 – Italy's Minister of Telecommunications Paolo Gentiloni has confirmed that the country's analogue switch-off date will be put back four years, from December 2008 to 2012.

Oct 1, 2007 – Telecom Italia launches the first Quadruple Play offering "Unica", based on broadband and IP technology. The package allows users to make calls from the same telephone either through the fixed-line or mobile network, to surf the Internet and to access Alice Home TV content.

Half of families in Western Europe are now receiving digital television
Sep 24, 2007 – Digital television in Western Europe is reaching a decisive milestone this month, overtaking the analogue system for the first time. There are now about 83 million households in the region's 20 countries receiving digital television signals out of a total of 166 million TV households.

Aug 22, 2007 – At the Games Convention, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) announced the introduction of PlayTV, a combined TV tuner and PVR for the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3). PlayTV will be available in UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain early in 2008.

News Corporation Reports Record Full Year Operating Income of $4.45 Billion; Growth of 15% over Fiscal 2006
Aug 8, 2007 – SKY Italia (News Corp - NYSE: NWS, NWSA) reported full year operating income of $221 million, a growth of $182 million over the $39 million reported a year ago. The improvement primarily reflects the addition of 368,000 net new subscribers over the past 12 months, bringing SKY Italia's subscriber base to 4.2 million at year-end.
