Global IPTV subscribers grow by 3.8 million in Q1 2012 to 65.6 million
Jun 20, 2012 – According to figures published by the Broadband Forum and prepared by Point Topic, IPTV now has 65.6 million subscribers globally, up 3.8 million in the quarter. China added over three times as many IPTV subscribers in the quarter as any other country.

KDDI launches Video Pass online movie service
May 15, 2012 – KDDI (Tokyo:9433) and Okinawa Cellular have announced the launch of Video Pass. Video Pass movies can be viewed on smartphones, via HDMI from a smartphone to a TV, or on PCs and tablets. An Android-based set-top box is also under development by KDDI.

China will Overtake US in Connected TV Sales in 2014
Apr 26, 2012 – The global Connected flat-panel TV (FPTV) market will increase to 91 million units in 2012, according to Strategy Analytics. Strategy Analytics projects that the number of global connected FPTV households will reach 502 million by 2016.
