Portugal Telecom adds 72 thousand 'meo' subscribers in 1Q09
May 14, 2009 – Portugal Telecom (Lisbon: PTC; NYSE: PT) has announced results for the first quarter of 2009. In 1Q09, net additions to the 'meo' satellite and IPTV pay-TV service reached 72 thousand bringing the total customer base to 384 thousand.

European Commission paves the way for European mobile satellite services

Motorola Supplies 150,000 IPTV Set-Tops to Portugal Telecom
May 13, 2009 – Motorola (NYSE: MOT) has announced that it has delivered 150,000 IPTV set tops to Portugal Telecom (Lisbon: PTC; NYSE: PT) for its 'meo' triple play service. At 31st of December of 2008, the operator had 312,000 customers for the service.

93,000 HD ZON Boxes installed in Portugal in Q1
May 6, 2009 – ZON Multimedia (Lisbon:ZON) has released its results for the first quarter of 2009. A further 93,000 customers installed an HD ZON Box, half of which were PVRs, leading to a total installed base of HD / HDR Boxes of 184 thousand.

Portuguese pay TV market continues to grow
Feb 26, 2009 – According to Portugal's Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (ANACOM), at the end of December 2008 the total number of subscribers to pay TV in the country reached 2.29 million, 75 thousand more than in the previous quarter.
