FTTH subscribers in Asia-Pacific up 35 percent in one year
Jul 28, 2015 – Figures from IDATE and the FTTH Council Asia-Pacific have revealed that more than 300 million businesses and homes across Asia-Pacific now have access to fiber services - an increase of 36.8% when compared to 2013.

Videocon d2h adds 0.46 million subscribers in 2Q 2015
Jul 23, 2015 – Videocon d2h (NASDAQ: VDTH) has announced results for the three months ended June 30, 2015. The Company added 0.46 million net subscribers in the quarter. Net subscribers totaled 10.64 million at the end of the period.

Digital TV Labs first approved lab for Malaysia DTT HbbTV receivers
Jul 22, 2015 – Digital TV Labs has received official accreditation from the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) to become the first lab facility for the Malaysian Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Broadcast Service Receiver Specification, including the interactive HbbTV profile.

21% of UK users have accessed TV content illegally
Jul 22, 2015 – A survey, published by the Intellectual Property Office (IPO), shows the latest UK trends in online streaming and downloading. 62% of internet users in the UK have downloaded or streamed music, TV shows, films, computer software, videogames or e-books. This is up from 56% in 2013.

Irdeto and SMiT launch CAM for Transvision in Indonesia
Jul 21, 2015 – Irdeto has announced, with Samsung and SMiT, the launch of the first broadcast Direct-2-TV (D2TV) system for the Indonesian market that does not require a set-top box. Irdeto’s security is integrated with SMiT’s USB CAM and a range of Samsung TVs that do not require IP connectivity.

VTVCab, SmarDTV and Samsung deploy Conax-certified CAM in Vietnam

MStar integrates Intertrust UHD security for TVs and STBs

Asia Pacific SVOD homes to quadruple
Jul 9, 2015 – Digital TV Research has forecast 68.83 million SVOD homes in Asia by 2020, quadruple the 2014 total. Japan will remain the largest SVOD country with China overtaking South Korea to become the second largest country by SVOD homes in 2020.
