Coradir, Cometrans, UTE to make free STBs for Argentina
May 11, 2010 – According to NexTV Latam, Coradir, Cometrans and UTE (Unión Transitoria de Empresas) will manufacture the 1.2 million ISDB set-top-boxes that the Argentine government plans to distribute free-of-charge this year.

Liberty Global adds 286k digital cable and loses 5k DTH subscribers in 1Q10
May 6, 2010 – Liberty Global (NASDAQ: LBTYA, LBTYB and LBTYK) has announced results for the first quarter 2010. Digital cable was the strongest product with 286,000 organic additions to give 6.0 million digital cable RGUs at the end of the period.

DIRECTV U.S. up 100,000 subscribers and DTVLA up 221,000 in 1Q10
May 6, 2010 – The DIRECTV Group (NASDAQ:DTV) has reported first quarter 2010 results. DIRECTV U.S. net subscriber additions were 100,000 to give 18.66 million, and DIRECTV Latin America net subscriber additions were 221,000 to give 4.81 million, at quarter end.

Argentina to distribute 1.2 million free STBs this year
May 5, 2010 – Argentina's Planning Ministry (MinPlan) has announced that over the next two months the government will distribute, free of charge, 750,000 ISDB-T set-top-boxes, with another 450,000 to be allocated by the end of the year.

Ericsson to upgrade network of Cable Tica in Costa Rica
May 4, 2010 – Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has signed a five-year contract with cable television operator Cable Tica of Costa Rica to build and operate its next generation optical fibre backbone network. The network will allow for future deployment of IPTV.
