CME Goes Over The Top with Alticast Throughout Central & Eastern Europe

Only 20% to 30% of European connected TVs are actually online
May 7, 2012 – The European Commission has presented a report on the application of its Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD). The report says that although many of the TV sets sold in Europe are connectable, only 20% to 30 % are actually online.

IPTV will reach 60 million subscriptions in the EU by 2020
Sep 28, 2011 – As broadband subscriptions continue to grow in the EU27, Point Topic has announced analysis on how many subscribers there will be and how many will take an IPTV service as well. According to the analyst firm, IPTV is set to treble by 2020.

Europeans prefer all in one 'packages' for internet, phone and TV
Jul 12, 2011 – Four out of ten Europeans households are buying 'bundled' internet, phone and TV services from a single provider, a new Eurobarometer survey shows. The E-Communications Household Survey was carried out between 9 February and 8 March 2011.

Bulgaria gets superfast broadband and new services with fiber to the home
Jul 5, 2011 – EVO Ltd, a regional ISP in Bulgaria, has started offering higher bandwidth and new, high-quality data services such as IPTV, to its customers. Nokia Siemens Networks is supplying its Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology for the upgrade.

IPTV Revenues to Reach €270 Million by the End of 2017 in CEE
May 16, 2011 – New analysis from Frost & Sullivan, Analysis of the IPTV Markets in Central and Eastern Europe, finds that the market earned revenues of €90 million in 2010 and estimates this to reach €270 million in 2017.

Court of Justice ruling means PVRs escape EU customs duty
Apr 14, 2011 – The European Court of Justice has ruled that for customs purposes decoders with a hard disk drive are set-top boxes and not recording apparatus and so are exempt from customs duties instead of being subject to a rate of 13.9%.
