DoCoMo Unveils Mobile TV Prototype at Expo Comm Wireless Japan 2010
Jul 15, 2010 – At the Expo Comm Wireless Japan 2010 trade show, DoCoMo (Tokyo: 9437) unveiled the prototype of a device that will allow users to watch video via its 'mmbi' broadcasting service. The service is due for launch in spring 2012.

Asia Pacific TV market achieves twin milestones

Global IPTV subscribers grow 8% in Q1 2010
Jun 16, 2010 – Broadband subscription growth took an upswing during the first quarter of 2010. The Broadband Forum figures show that the number of IPTV subscribers grew to 36.3 million. China and the USA are the top two countries for both broadband and IPTV.

J:COM and KDDI to co-operate on STB development
Jun 10, 2010 – J:COM (JASDAQ: 4817), Sumitomo (Tokyo:8053) and KDDI (Tokyo:9433) have agreed an alliance between the three companies. As part of the agreement J:COM and KDDI will develop pilot set-top boxes based on the Android™ operating system.
