Telefónica pay TV accesses exceed 2.3 million
May 13, 2009 – Telefónica (Madrid and NYSE: TEF) has released its first quarter 2009 results. Pay TV accesses exceeded 2.3 million by the end of March, almost 25% more than a year ago. However, subscriber numbers in Spain fell by 7,700 in the quarter.

Spain's DIGITAL+ subscribers down 34 thousand in Q1
Apr 30, 2009 – Grupo PRISA (Madrid: PRS), owner of Sogecable, has reported results for the period January-March 2009. The subscriber base of DIGITAL+, Sogecable's Spanish satellite platform, was 2,001,000 at quarter end, down from 2,035,000 at the end of 2008.

2.5 million digital TV customers for France Telecom
Apr 29, 2009 – France Telecom (Paris & NYSE: FTE) has released its first quarter 2009 results. The company had 2.5 million digital TV (ADSL and satellite) customers at 31 March 2009, a year-on-year increase of 75%.

Government calls for unified DTT STB specification for Spain
Apr 28, 2009 – Spain's Ministerio de Industria has asked television operators and telecommunication manufacturers to create a unified DTT platform for pay TV. The aim of the initiative is to avoid viewers having to purchase multiple devices.

Spain - April DTT monthly update and annual report released
Apr 13, 2009 – According to Impulsa-TDT, February sales of DTV tuners in Spain exceeded 576,000. The total volume of DTT receivers sold since 2003 is now around 17 million units.

Spain begins pay-DTT licensing

DTT comes of age in Europe

Spain publishes Q4 pay-TV statistics
Mar 31, 2009 – The Comisión del Mercado de las Telecomunicaciones (CMT) has published statistics for the communications market in Spain in the fourth quarter. In the quarter, the number of subscribers fell in all pay-TV segments except for IPTV.

ONO fourth quarter and full year 2008 results
Mar 12, 2009 – Spain's ONO has announced results for the fourth quarter ended 31 December 2008. Cable television customers increased by 79,000 or 8.2% in the last twelve months, reaching 1,039,000 as of 31 December 2008.
