Korea cable TV plans big digital push
Sep 2, 2009 – According to the Korea Cable TV Association (KCTA), there are 15.3 million cable TV subscribers in the country, of which 2.3 million, or 15%, were digital at the end of June 2009.

Canal+ converts 240,000 to digital in 1st half 2009
Sep 1, 2009 – Vivendi (Paris: VIV) has released results for the first half of 2009. Canal+'s migration of analog subscribers accelerated over the past six months with nearly 240,000 upgrades to digital since January 2009, ahead of targets.

Sri Lanka allocates money for DVB-T transition
Aug 28, 2009 – Plans are being made by Sri Lanka's Mass Media and Information Ministry to introduce DTT in the country next year. Money has been allocated to both the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corp. (SLRC) and Independent Television Network (ITN) in the 2010 budget.

Australia passes key digital TV milestone
Aug 28, 2009 – More than half of all Australian households have now made the switch to digital television, the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy has announced.

Chunghwa Telecom Multimedia-on-Demand subscribers down 26k in 2Q09
Aug 27, 2009 – Chunghwa Telecom (TAIEX: 2412, NYSE: CHT) has reported results for the first six months of 2009. At the end of the quarter, Chunghwa had 660,000 Multimedia-On-Demand (MOD) subscribers, a 29.7% y-o-y increase, though down 26,000 on end-March 2009.

TiVo subscribers down 146 thousand in quarter to end-July 2009
Aug 26, 2009 – TiVo (NASDAQ: TIVO) has reported results for its second quarter ended July 31, 2009. TiVo lost 42,000 direct subscribers and 104,000 subscribers through MSOs/broadcasters, to leave a total of 3.05 million at the end of the period.

Vimicro Signs Agreement with Leadcore for TD-SCDMA 3G Market
