EU seeks views on Europe's audiovisual media rules
Jul 6, 2015 – The European Commission has announced a public consultation on the current framework regulating Europe's audiovisual media landscape. The consultation seeks feedback from stakeholders (market players, public organisations, consumer organisations) but also from viewers themselves.

Western European OTT to add $9 billion
Jul 2, 2015 – OTT TV and video revenues in Western Europe will reach $13.72 billion in 2020; up from the $894 million recorded in 2010 and the $6.34 billion expected in 2015, according to a report from Digital TV Research.

Netflix on track for 69.9 million subs by year-end
Jun 29, 2015 – Digital TV Research’s Global OTT TV & Video Forecasts report estimates that Netflix will have 69.90 million paying subscribers by end-2015, up by 28% from 54.48 million at end-2014.

37,000 IPTV customers for eircom
May 18, 2015 – eircom Group has announced results for the third quarter and nine months ended 31 March 2015. The company said that it now has 37,000 TV customers, representing 26% penetration of its consumer fibre base.

Netflix' international business yet to turn a profit

Roku introduces upgraded Roku 3 and Roku 2 streaming players
Apr 6, 2015 – Roku has announced 'Roku Feed', a feature that allows consumers to follow entertainment and get automatic updates on pricing and availability. Roku has also introduced its Roku 3 streaming player with voice search and a faster Roku 2 player.

One millionth Horizon customers for upc cablecom
Feb 20, 2015 – upc cablecom has welcomed its millionth Horizon customer. The Liberty Global multimedia platform was launched in Switzerland just over two years ago. The Horizon HD Recorder is also available in Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland and Poland. Together, these countries have now cracked the million mark.

SES brings Ultra HD demo channel to the UK and Ireland
Feb 12, 2015 – SES (Paris; Luxembourg: SESG) has announced that its Ultra High Definition (UHD) demonstration channel is now available in the UK and Ireland. Broadcast via ASTRA 2E, the content is broadcast using the DVB UHD-1 Phase 1 signalling and is encoded in HEVC Main 10.
