Pay TV subscribers in Africa to grow 74% between 2017 and 2023
Jan 8, 2018 – The number of pay TV subscribers in Sub-Saharan Africa will increase by 74% between 2017 and 2023 to reach 40.89 million. However, Digital TV Research estimates that subscriber growth will outstrip revenue progress.

Angola creates digital television migration working group

Digital TV penetration accelerates in Sub-Saharan Africa
Jan 8, 2013 – About 35.3% of TV homes in Sub-Saharan Africa took digital signals by end-2012, according to a report from Digital TV Research. The Digital TV Sub-Saharan Africa report forecasts that digital TV penetration will rocket to 95.5% by 2018 - with household numbers quadrupling to 49.0 million.

Angola completes initial ISDB-T trials
Apr 11, 2011 – The Fórum SBTVD has announced that the first phases of ISDB-T trials have been completed in Angola. The test signal was broadcast between December 2010 and February 2011 in the capital Luanda, with test receivers installed around the city.

SADC ICT ministers adopt DVB-T2 for digital terrestrial

Zon satellite service in Angola to be called ZAP
Feb 15, 2010 – Finstar has announced the launch of a satellite TV service in Angola called ZAP. Finstar is owned 70% by SOCIP, a company controlled by Isabel dos Santos, and 30% by Teliz, a company acquired by ZON Multimédia (Lisbon:ZON).
